About Rising: Rising is a weekday morning show with bipartisan hosts that breaks the mold of morning TV by taking viewers inside the halls of Washington power like never before. The show leans into the day`s political cycle with cutting edge analysis from DC insiders who can predict what is going to happen.

Lee opens the show this week with a look into how Trumpist nationalism has made the coronavirus crisis worse. We no longer live in a world where it`s possible to pretend that one nation`s problems are separate from those of every other nation. We`re only as safe as our least safe neighbors in a public health crisis such as this and in the competition to be the least safe, the US is doing its best to be number 1. In "Taking The News From Behind" Lee discusses Chelsea Manning’s release from prison, our current economic crisis, and that the Justice Department has dropped charges against the Russia.

The Coronavirus is spreading across the world rapidly and testing the resilience of governments and societies. The US has found itself unprepared for the pandemic partly because Donald Trump got rid of a pandemic response power when he first came to power but also because of the healthcare system that has been at the center of this election season.

By Alan Macleod - Things got so bad that some voters claimed that if a similar situation occurred in states such as Iran, the US government would intervene to “restore democracy.” Chaos and gridlock again reigned across much of America as fourteen states chose their candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination yesterday on Super Tuesday. Many voters were forced to wait in line for up to six hours as understaffed and poorly equipped polling stations were inundated with voters, particularly in Texas and California, the two largest and most influential Super Tuesday states. In California, electronic voting systems were unable to connect and experienced severe problems, something election integrity activists had warned was bound to happen. The law dictates that all those in line by closing time must be allowed to cast a ballot. But the technical difficulties meant that many stood in line through the evening for their right to choose.

In Ukraine, everything is boring and predictable, the collapse and firesale are going according to plan. So let’s look again at the United States; it’s there that the main circus of the planet is now taking place. In the United (so far) States, a “super Tuesday” was held – a day when “Caucuses” (preliminary intra-party voting to select presidential candidates from the two main parties) were held in a quarter of the total number of States. There will be another “super Tuesday” later, but it involves just about 20% of the States. But at the moment it’s not about this. And on this “super Tuesday” suddenly (really unexpectedly for everyone), Joe Biden with his shaking head wins.

The media is doing its best to make the Seth Rich story go away, but it seems to have a life of its own, possibly due to the fact that the accepted narrative about how Rich died makes no sense. In its Iatest manifestation, it provides an alternative explanation for just how the information from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) computer somehow made its way to Wikileaks. If you believe that Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide and that he was just a nasty pedophile rather than an Israeli intelligence agent, read no farther because you will not be interested in Rich. But if you appreciate that it was unlikely that the Russians were behind the stealing of the DNC information you will begin to understand that other interested players must have been at work.

“WikiLeaks, I love WikiLeaks." ~ Donald Trump, October 10 2016, Wilkes-Barre, PA. “This WikiLeaks is like a treasure trove." ~ Donald Trump, October 31, 2016 in Warren, MI. Back in the day, not so long ago, The Donald loved him some WikiLeaks. He said so on at least five occasions out on the campaign trail – in Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio, and Michigan. That was when WikiLeaks, ostensibly at least, served his purposes by releasing hacked DNC emails that were rather unflattering to his opponent, Hillary Clinton. The MAGA crew must’ve agreed with him regarding the Julian Assange-headed web publication at the time: Trump carried all four battleground states, which propelled him into the White House. He’s had more than three years, now, to acclimate to his new digs and, somewhere along the way, pulled a 180 on Assange, whom his administration now labels "an enemy of the state who must be brought down."

Ron Paul - Listening to the howls from Democrats and the applause from Republicans, one would think President Trump’s proposed fiscal year 2021 budget is a radical assault on the welfare state. The truth is that the budget contains some minor spending cuts, most of which are not even real cuts. Instead they are reductions in the “projected rate of growth.”

It’s often hard to report on U.S. politics and government with a straight face. It’s even harder to report on the usual reporting on U.S. politics and government with a straight face. So much of it is beyond the reach of parody. Yet it also opens up opportunities to shock people with basic facts. The stock market going up is not a good thing. Wars don’t expand human rights. Loony newfangled schemes to give everyone healthcare and education have been tried for many decades in many countries, making them more reliable and old-fashioned than getting to keep your beloved health insurance company and student debt. Muslim terrorists are not in the top 1,000 threats to your health. Russian Facebook accounts are not in the top 10,000 corrupting influences on U.S. elections. The amount of money the Pentagon spends every year is $100,000 times $100,000 times $100 plus more than you can truly comprehend. Michael Bloomberg is not an impressive serious person.

DAVID SWANSON - Indigenous people in Canada are giving the world a demonstration of the power of nonviolent action. The justness of their cause — defending the land from those who would destroy it for short term profit and the elimination of a habitable climate on earth — combined with their courage and the absence on their part of cruelty or hatred, has the potential to create a much larger movement, which is of course the key to success. This is a demonstration of nothing less than a superior alternative to war, not just because the war weapons of the militarized Canadian police may be defeated by the resistance of the people who have never been conquered or surrendered, but also because the Canadian government could accomplish its aims in the wider world better by following a similar path, by abandoning the use of war for supposedly humanitarian ends and making use of humanitarian means instead.

Hunter Biden served on the board of a trade group that lobbied for increased spending on international aid, including for Ukraine. Biden’s association with the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition and its close affiliate, the Center for U.S. Global Leadership, has gone unexplored in the coverage of his business dealings. While affiliated with the groups, Biden joined the board of Ukrainian energy firm Burisma Holdings. Hunter Biden was on the board of a trade coalition that lobbied the Obama administration in 2014 on foreign assistance to Ukraine, and appears to have set up a State Department meeting for the group’s president. Biden’s links to the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) and its affiliate, the Center for U.S. Global Leadership, have gone largely unreported in the coverage of his various business dealings, which have caused a headache for his father as he runs for president.

A year ago I interviewed Yonatan Stern in a kosher pizzeria in Monticello, Catskills, New York. Yonatan is the man behind Cherev Gidon, an ‘Israeli Tactical Training Academy.’ Yonatan was a perfect subject to interview: his views may be radical but they are based upon a sharp, coherent and consistent rationale. He was open in expressing his thoughts, which included some outrageous statements but which all left no doubt that he both meant what he said and said what he meant. I’ve observed that in America 2020, after half a century of the tyranny of correctness, very few Americans are brave enough to celebrate their constitutionally protected liberty to think and express themselves freely and authentically.

The Iowa caucuses take place today, kicking off the official start of the 2020 presidential election season. Democratic presidential candidates spent the weekend making last-minute pitches to voters at rallies across Iowa. Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee is facing criticism for overhauling its rules, opening the door for billionaire former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg, who is running a self-funded campaign, to take part in the next debate. This comes as fear is growing among some Democrats that Bernie Sanders might win the nomination.
